If your child attends Chaffee Trail Elementary there is a school bus that stops in front of Country Bumpkins, so you can use them for before and/or after school care as well. Check them out.

What Questions Should You Ask When Touring a Daycare?

When touring a daycare, it’s important to ask a variety of questions to ensure the facility meets your child’s needs and your expectations. Here are some essential questions to consider:

General Information

– Is the daycare licensed?: Ensure the facility is licensed and meets state regulations.
– What are the operating hours?: Confirm the hours of operation and if they align with your schedule.

Staff and Safety

– What is the child-to-caregiver ratio?: A lower ratio often means more individual attention for your child.
– Have all staff undergone background checks?: Ensure all caregivers have passed state and national background checks, including fingerprinting.
– Is there always someone trained in pediatric first aid and CPR on-site?: This is crucial for your child’s safety.

Daily Routine and Activities

– What does a typical day look like?: Ask about the daily schedule, including nap times, meals, and activities.
– How is discipline handled?: Understand the daycare’s approach to discipline and behavior management.
– What types of activities are offered?: Ensure there are a variety of educational and recreational activities that suit your child’s interests.

Health and Hygiene

– What is the policy for sick children?: Ask about the procedures for handling illnesses and notifying parents.
– How often are toys and surfaces cleaned?: Hygiene practices are important to prevent the spread of germs.

Communication and Involvement

– How do you communicate with parents?: Find out how the daycare keeps parents informed about their child’s day and any incidents.
– Are parents allowed to visit anytime?: Some daycares have open-door policies, while others may have specific visiting hours.

Nutrition

– What meals and snacks are provided?: Ask about the types of food served and if they accommodate dietary restrictions.

Emergency Procedures

– Is there a clear plan for emergencies?: Ensure the daycare has a written plan for emergencies, such as injuries, illnesses, or evacuations.

These questions can help you make an informed decision and ensure your child is in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Do you have any specific concerns or preferences for your child’s daycare?
